Appeal by Cardinal George Pell

This morning, the Victorian Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal by Cardinal George Pell against his conviction of Child Sexual Abuse. Attached is a letter from Bishop Vincent Long OFM Conv, Bishop of Parramatta in response to the decision.

Bishop Vincent has made very clear that the Diocese respects the decision of the court and the processes of the law. He has stated on many occasions that the welfare of those in the community who have been harmed by the crime of child sexual abuse must always be the first and ongoing concern for the Diocese and for CEDP. He has restated this commitment in his letter. The letter also outlines ways that people can access professional help if that is needed.
