Squares for Service

Mrs Chapman has put her inspiration from last year’s Education Mass into action after starting a ‘Squares for Service’ project.

Over the past few months, students and teachers grabbed their sewing kits and crochet hooks before receiving a history lesson on how to use sewing machines as part of the project which has been designed to benefit those in need, while empowering students to develop new leadership and social justice skills.

“Thank you to all of the staff who have supported our formation goal this year of offering service to those who are in need,” said Mrs Chapman.

The school has now collected over 200 squares which are being assembled into blankets for those in need.

We have been inspired by the social justice efforts of the students who have been involved in this project, but especially by Mrs Chapman, who turned a small idea into a creative and hands-on way to respond to God’s call to service.
